Spudfest is FREE, but there are some very special events that you'll need to buy a ticket for.

The Spud Hub is the official place to be! Located in the Town Square, this is where you’ll find all the Discovery Day action. Enjoy fresh produce from our local producers, including farm-fresh Trentham potatoes, and treat yourself to some delicious hot potato treats while you’re there.

Make sure you visit the Spudfest Info & Merchandise Stand, where you can also pick up your Great Trentham Scavenger Hunt clues before setting off on your town-wide adventure.

Then soak up the lively atmosphere at Rosie the Caravan Music Stage — a beautiful and lovingly restored vintage Viscount caravan hosting wonderful local performers throughout the day.

Join this special SpudFest weekend workshop, where you'll learn how to turn the humble potato into a practical, time tested home remedy.

In this hands-on workshop at Acre of Roses, herbalist and author of The Medicinal Garden, Caroline Parker will guide you through the traditional art of making potato poultices, simple preparations that have been used in home herbal care for generations.

You’ll learn:

When to use a hot preparation and when to use a cold one

Spudfest is Victoria’s greatest celebration of the potato, and Gnocchi is one of world’s best potato dishes.

As part of Trentham’s Spudfest weekend, Hotel Trentham is running a Gnocchi Making Class on Sunday 3rd May starting at 9.30am, hosted by Head Chef Erica Crowther.

Strictly limited to just 10 people, this class will teach you how to make Gnocchi from scratch, and include potato selection, potato preparation & portioning, how to use the right ingredients, pre-cooking & chilling, and most importantly cooking Gnocchi with sauces.

Meet the Artists - step inside the creative heart of the region!

No trip to Trentham is complete without a visit to the Old Trentham Police Station Complex and District story walk.

An easy stroll from the main street, it is an informative collection of police memorabilia and local history exhibitions. The former timber buildings that once housed the town’s police station and lock up, have been meticulously maintained and provide a peek into the lives of our constabulary and those local larrikins they pursued.

The Trentham District story is also told through 14 interpretive panels positioned on the site. This installation is a walk through the history of the area, starting from the lives of First Nations people through to modern day. Celebrated in words and pictures are all those people, industries and events that left a lasting impression on Trentham and surrounding district.

The Artful Meadow is a cool-climate garden, nursery and pick-your-own cut flower farm celebrating naturalistic planting and seasonal beauty. Designed with a focus on biodiversity, ecology and artistry, the garden evolves throughout the year—from a vibrant spring bulb meadow to a prairie-inspired summer display, followed by autumn bulbs and the rich colours of deciduous shrubs and trees, and finally the sculptural, frosted forms of winter.

The nursery reflects the spirit of the garden, specialising in cool-climate perennials, shrubs and trees, including many rare and unusual plants.

Discover five acres of stunning gardens at St Erth Garden, Café and Nursery, where heirloom food plants and ornamentals flourish in a beautiful, thoughtfully curated landscape. Showcasing Diggers varieties, the gardens are both inspiring and abundant, offering visitors a chance to explore rare and heritage plants up close.

On Spudfest Weekend (both Saturday and Sunday), enjoy guided garden tours at 11:00am and 2:00pm (included with garden entry — $15 adults, children 16 and under free). Wander through productive beds and ornamental displays, then visit the shop and nursery to browse hundreds of seed varieties and perennials to take home.

Discover the creative world of McKenzie & King Studio, a peaceful artistic haven nestled in the heart of the Wombat Forest. The studio is home to acclaimed landscape painter Julie McKenzie, whose vibrant works capture the beauty, atmosphere and ever-changing moods of the surrounding bushland.

Julie has spent more than 50 years living a life of creativity, painting, building artistic communities and sharing her passion for the arts. She has exhibited widely across Australia, won the prestigious Bentley Acquisitive Art Prize, and co-directed artist-run galleries and creative spaces with Malcolm King in regional New South Wales and Victoria.

Refresh at Blackwood’s Natural Springs

This walk is hosted by The Great Dividing Trail Association and your walk leaders are Arie and Ed. Take a wander through history on this scenic loop walk in the Wombat State Forest, following part of the Great Dividing Trail. Starting at Jack Cann Reserve, the track winds through beautiful open eucalypt forest and down around fern lined Whipstick Creek before looping back to where you began.

Along the way, discover fascinating relics from the region’s gold mining days, when hopeful diggers worked the land by hand in tough conditions. Keep an eye out for the remains of vertical and horizontal mine shafts (including one you can safely view from a purpose-built platform) offering a glimpse into the rugged life of the early goldfields.

This interactive demonstration will guide you through everything you need to know, from choosing the right bulbs and preparing your soil, to planting techniques and aftercare, so you can create a vibrant spring display at home with confidence.

Set within a thriving retail nursery, you’ll have the opportunity to explore and purchase a wide range of quality plants, bulbs, and garden favourites to take home and start your own seasonal transformation. The team will be on hand to answer questions and offer expert advice tailored to your garden.

Relax in the café and enjoy their special Spudfeast dish, celebrating the humble potato with a delicious seasonal creation (details available in-store). It’s the perfect way to round out a garden-filled visit.

Step out to Mountain View Garlic, a charming family-run farm at the foot of Mount Macedon, where premium garlic and fresh seasonal produce are grown with sustainable care. At this special Spudfest event, enjoy guided farm tours that give you a behind-the-scenes look at how this thriving farm grows its flavorful garlic, vegetables and more — and the seasonal rhythms that make it all possible.

During the 1 - 1.5 hour tour, you’ll discover how Mountain View Garlic grows its produce using sustainable practices, learn the essentials of garlic cultivation, and gain insight into life on a working farm

After your tour, explore the farm shop stocked with freshly harvested garlic, free-range eggs and a variety of seasonal fruit and vegetables — all grown right on site or sourced locally.

Whether you’re a home gardener, foodie or simply curious about farm-to-table growing, this is a welcoming way to connect with the land, learn something new and taste some of the freshest produce in the region.
