About the event
Once a year, during the Great Trentham Spudfest, you have the rare chance to journey into the past and uncover the tough, isolated life of the early potato diggers of our region. Visit the last remaining historic spud huts that once sheltered these rugged pioneers, who braved the elements and the altitude to cultivate the rich, red volcanic soil—putting our region on the map for producing the finest ‘taters around!
This guided tour is packed with true tales of hardship and humor, plenty of cheeky fun, and a few surprises along the way—courtesy of your lively local host and the one and only ‘Reg, the spud digger.’
You’ll never look at a potato the same way again!
